Experienced businessman, with 40 years experience as founder or co-founder and manager of 4 successful technology start-ups.

Earned B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Mineral Exploration from McGill University in Montreal before coming to the University of California at Berkeley to earn a PhD degree in Engineering Science. Thesis topic: Finite Difference Solutions to Geophysical Boundary Value Problems. Published a large variety of proprietary reports and papers on mineral deposits and their evaluation through the use of integrated exploration methods.

 A 7-year stint as manager of various geological exploration tasks across much of Canada culminated in a two-year program of helicopter mapping of gold prospects in an extensive area of the Northwest Territories.

Other career directions have included the on the development of application techniques for state-of-the-art technologies in the areas of environmental and mineral resource quantification. Introduced the use of the Remote Sensing Correlation Spectrometer for air pollution assessment objectives, and initiated, developed funding and managed a 6-year assessment of the impact on the air quality throughout the Washington DC area by the surrounding fossil fuel power plants using the remote sensing Correlation Spectrometer plus mobile air quality laboratories.

Founded and managed a geophysical survey company offering specialized exploration techniques throughout North America and overseas. Developed funding for the exploration of extensive mineral deposits in Argentina.

Co-founded with colleagues a new solar technology company that has led to the development of new Concentrating Solar systems that are being applied today to energy development projects in North America and Europe.
